Wolfgang Obermair is a German and Austrian artist and curator based in Vienna. He studied painting in Nuremberg at the Academy of Fine Arts and media art at the HfG Karlsruhe. His work was shown in various locations including Vienna, Moscow, Beijing, Porto, Zagreb, Vancouver. Between 2001 and 2012 he has been curating exhibitions for the Nuremberg based kunstbunker – forum for contemporary art, including “Ellen Cantor – Video and Drawings” (2001), “Sergey Bratkov. Menschen im Bunker“ (2004 with E. Shapiro-Obermair) and “Das Authentische als Kunst – Mommartzfilme 1967 – 2006” (2007 with H. Gabler). From 2012–2017 he was part of the Viennese collective Schneiderei.  Since 2017 he runs the artist run space hoast together with Ekaterina Shapiro-Obermair.  Currently, Obermair is teaching at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna in the department for Transmedial Art.
